Bird's nest acid is an important component of oligosaccharides, glycolipids and glycoproteins, which are widely distributed in human brain, nerve tissue, blood and emulsion. In 2017, China approved sialic acid as a new food raw material, and in the same year, the European Union authorized sialic acid to be put on the market as a new food ingredient. In 2021, bird's nest acid was successfully filed with the State Food and Drug Administration as a new raw material for cosmetics.
